The job

Passport photos get rejected for small things: a head that is too big, a shadow, the wrong background. The site had to turn a phone selfie into a photo that meets the official rules for dozens of documents, keep the photo on the phone until it is bought, and be found in many languages for very specific searches.

What I built

  • A live camera guide that tells you what to adjust and takes the photo when everything is right
  • Face detection, cropping, background replacement and checks that run in the browser, so the photo stays on the phone until it is bought
  • Official size, head height and background rules for 64 documents in 33 countries, each with its own requirements page
  • A free photo checker that measures head height, eye line, head turn, shadows, sharpness and background
  • A free preview, then one payment through Stripe for the digital file and print sheet, with no subscription
  • 22 languages, including right-to-left Arabic, Persian and Urdu, linked to each other with hreflang
  • About 1,600 pages in the sitemaps, from country and document pages to guides on sizes and rejected photos
  • No advertising or analytics cookies
